Prenups, Postnups, and Considerations for Second Marriages
Marital status has a significant impact on property rights and estate planning. Experienced matrimonial attorney, Laura Hedge, will provide guidance on some of the most important things our clients should be considering when contemplating getting married or getting divorced, and the impact these life changes may have on our client's financial future.
Laura Hedge graduated cum laude from St. Bonaventure University and earned her J.D. from Villanova University School of Law. While at Villanova, she served as Symposium Editor for the Environmental Law Journal, worked as a student attorney in the Legal Aid Clinic with a focus on family law and immigration, and received the Dorothy Day Award for outstanding pro bono service.
She has guest lectured at St. John’s University Law School on emerging issues in family law and is a published author in the New York Law Journal. In 2021, she served as a faculty member for a New York State Bar Association CLE program on domestic violence, coercive control, and trauma-informed interviewing techniques.
Laura is an active member of the New York State Bar Association, where she serves on the Committee on Families and the Law. She also belongs to the New York Women’s Bar Association, serving on the Reproductive Rights Committee, and the Tompkins County Bar Association.
At Bousquet Holstein, along with the responsibilities that come along with being a Member of the firm, Laura is a member of the recruitment committee, DAB (diversity, accessibility and belonging) committee, and has served as a mentor to the firm's Ithaca-based summer associates for four years. In October, 2025, Laura, along with other professionals served as a panelist at Bousquet Holstein's event: Smart Planning for Every Stage of Life providing guidance and insight to the Ithaca community.
Laura enjoys all of the wonderful outdoor activities that living in the Finger Lakes has to offer, including hiking, boating on Cayuga and Canandaigua Lakes, skiing, visiting local wineries, attending concerts and spending time with her husband and two children.
